1930SummerThe earliest nest of the Eastern Phoebe was found near Shakopee by Ralph Woolsey on April 24th; contents, fivo eggs. Alden Risser found a nest at st. Paul on April 27th with the same number of eggs. A nest found by the writm: near Onamia on May 24th held five eggs. The young were about ready to leave on June 13th and on June 29th the sam~ nest again held five eggs. A nest found by the writer near Grand ~~ais held four young ready to sever home ties on June 20't.h, and Gustav Swanson found a nest of young birds at Madison on May 25th.
1931SummerThree nests with five eggs each were reported on the ·following dates: April.30th~ M£.;,r 4th, and June 11th. A nest with five young about two-thirds grown was found May 31st, and another with !"our eggs was report.ed Hay 2nd.
1932SummerNineteen Eastern Phoebe nests were found, the first by Stanley Stein on April 20, when it had 4 eges. The latest was found on July 22 with 3 large young (Swedenborg). The last nest vith eggs was seen on July 1J by W. J. Brcckenrid6e in a bootleg cellar. Tsk. Tsk.
1933Summer Forty nests were reported of this denizen of decrepit dwellings, culverts and bridges. Tho earliest was fotmd by ~1rs. Peterson and J. Jones near Madison on April 14th when it hold 1 egg. Tho last was discovered by Ha.llson on July 9th near Ely• Three eggs comprised the contents.

Reclrds of f'rcn 3 to 5 eggs cr young run all through tho rot1o.indor of Mny, through June, through July, and up to the 1;5th of August and oooc !'ron all parts of the State. Thonpson sn.w 3 young in a nest at Eveleth August 15th for the latest recorc. The closestobserved Eastern Phoebe nest was the one in the old stone quarry en the University of Hinnesota canpus. The nest, first scan by Evans, was wo.tched. fron time to time by a.l~lost all the· nenbcrs of the M. B. C. It was conplctecl but onpty on :tny 7th. On Mn.y 11th, it wns still enpty. Lo.ter it contained 2 Brown-headed Cowbird om~s (1 of. which was removed by Risser), then 1 Brown-headed Cowbird c.nd 1 Eastern Phoebe egg, and on May 1·5th, 1 Eastern Phoebe egg. May 16th found it cuupty, but on May 24th, there ws e. Eastern Phoebe egg, and on May 28th there were 5 Eastern Phoebe eggs.
1936Summer The earliest record comes from Kon'i1eth Carlnnder who observed o.dults building at LD.kc Inc1epcndoncc on April 19th. S\-Tedenborg reported several nests; one found on May 1.7th hold but one egg, while a nest found by him three days later held five eggs. As well as reporting the earlic..st dr1..te for tho "Bridge-bird11, Ken Carlandcr reported the latest nest \.Jhich held young ready to leave the nest on August at Hackensack.
1937SummerDr. Mahle saw phoebes car­rying nesting material near Plainview on April 23. E. D. Swedenborg found a nest with 2 eggs on May 15. On June 22, near Ely, a nest of young was seen by Risser, Rysgaard and Pittelkow.
1938SummerData for this species was submitted by 9 observers. Space will per­ mit the lis~ing of but 2 or 3 of the ob­ servations. R. Voth found a complete but empty nest on April 27 at St. Cloud. At White Bear Lake on May 8, R. M. Berthel found Eastern Phoebes building over his front door; Eastern Phoebes have built there for the past 25 years. The latest record is from G. Swanson who found young just hatched at Itasca Park on August r.
1940SummerR. M. Berthel found a nest of eggs at White Bear Lake on May I; 4 young left it on July I3. On July 30, a nest holding 5 eggs was found at Lake Vermillion by K. Carlander. Dr. Lakela and C. Hero found 2 empty nests and 4 feathered young on July 4, at Sea Gull Lake, Cook Co.

1961SummerForest Strnad found a nest with five young on 16 July near Kasson. Huber brothers found four nests in Winona, Wabasha and Houston Counties between 30 May and 1 July.

1965Springearliest 4-8 Dakota Co, FN, Anoka Co, FL and St. Cloud, NH. SAY'·S PHOEBE: Although this species has not yet been recorded in Minnesota, the initial event cannot be far away. Numberous observers saw one at Fargo on 5-10 (LWJ, MGA, et. al.) and it breeds regularly in northwestern Iowa.
